SENSHOKU @New Balance ROPPONGI 19:06

ニューバランスが展開するライフスタイルブランド「TOKYO DESIGN STUDIO New Balance」のカプセルコレクションのためのインスタレーション「SENSHOKU」です。 1点1点手作業の製品染めで、深い色を持った服たち。新しいカラフルなニューバランスのロゴが入ることから、色を使った表現が求められました。 製品染めの商品からヒントを得て、溶融メッキ加工が施されたパイプに繊維用のエコ染料を染み込ませて着色を行いました。元々メッキパイプの持つ結晶模様や鈍い光沢が色彩と相まって、独特な表情をまとっています。 染料は、C(シアン)・M(マゼンタ)・Y(イエロー)の三原色を使用し、メッキパイプの両端からそれぞれ異なる色で染め上げ、中間で色が重なり混ざり合わせています。その際、染色時間を調整しながらグラデーションを付けました。 「SENSHOKU」は日本の染色技法を指します。それは着物などの文化とともに育まれ、様々な伝統技法が生み出されてきました。 無機質な素材に手仕事の趣をもたらし、空間を鮮やかに引き立てることを目指しました。 This is an installation “SENSHOKU” for the capsule collection of lifestyle brand “TOKYO DESIGN STUDIO New Balance” by New Balance. Apparels with deep colors, garment-dyed one by one by hand. Since new colorful New Balance logos are placed, expression using colors was required. I got a hint from the garment dyeing apparels, I soaked galvanized pipes in eco-friendly dye which is for textile and colored them. The crystalline patterns and dull luster of the galvanized pipes combined with the colors created unique look. In addition, the dyeing expresses rich colors through repeat working. For the dye, we used the three primary colors of C (cyan), M (magenta), and Y (yellow). The galvanized pipe was then dyed with different colors from both ends so that the colors would mix in the middle. The gradation was achieved by adjusting the dyeing time. Through trial and error, I decided to pour the dye into the PVC pipe and insert the galvanized pipe into each. In this way, we were able to control the shade and length of the dye individually. I have named “SENSHOKU” for this installation which refers to a Japanese dyeing technique. It was developed with Japanese culture such as kimono, and various traditional techniques have been created. In this installation, I aimed to bring the taste of handwork to inorganic materials and to enhance the space vividly.
