TOKYO DESIGN STUDIO New Balance × OVERCOAT @DOVER STREET MARKET GINZA

ニューヨークを拠点とするユニセックスブランド「OVERCOAT」と、NEW BALANCEが展開するブランド「TOKYO DESIGN STUDIO New Balance」のコラボレーションによるカプセルコレクションのためのディスプレイデザイン。 コレクションの特徴は、論理的にデザインされたパターン（型紙）。その仕立ての良さを伝えるために、面から立体を作るというルールで設計を進めることにした。薄さ0.2mmの紙をキーマテリアルとし、その紙をプリーツ状に折りたたんでから伸ばして形を作っている。模型検討から実寸にスケールアップさせながら折り目の角度やピッチを調整することで、重力と拮抗させながら立体に立ち上げた。紙の歪みやシワを残し、衣服のような表情をまとわせている。 アパレルのデザインディテールを際立たせるため、ハンガースタンドはディテールレスな作りとした。 The New York-based unisex brand “OVERCOAT” and the brand “TOKYO DESIGN STUDIO New Balance” by NEW BALANCE have collaborated for the capsule collection. This is the display designed for it. The feature of the collection is the logically designed pattern.In order to show its well-made quality, I designed the shape of three-dimensions from the flat surface. The key material for this display is the 0.2mm thin paper.They are shaped by folding the pleated box and then stretching it. I adjusted its pleats angles and pitches while scaling up to the actual size from the model study. Then, it stood up in three-dimensions, balancing with gravity. The paper’s distortions and wrinkles are appear the clothes-like expression. The hanger stand is made detailless to emphasize the design details of the clothes.
