中国北京市を拠点にする特注什器専門のメーカーによるショールームの設計。 建材サンプルの展示コーナーの他、商談を行えるミーティングスペースやコーヒーカウンター、実物の特注キッチンやウォークインクローゼット、ランドリー等の設備があり、現地の個人オーナーやデザイナーがここを訪れデザインのアイデアを膨らますための施設である。 限られたスペースの中に無数の展示物を展開させるために、ウォークインクローゼットを中心として渦巻のような形状の壁を設け、それを追いかけるようにさらにもう一つの渦巻状の木のフレームを製作した。壁には様々な建材サンプルの展示を行い、木のフレームにはドアや大型パネルをフレキシブルに取り外しできる機能を持たせている。また、渦巻状に建てた壁により生まれる大小様々なスペースにキッチンやランドリーなどの什器を点在させ、一つながりの家のような空間とした。 訪れたゲストはこの迷路のような導線を歩く中で、様々な空間のシーンと新しい建材や什器に出合うことが出来る。 高い木工加工技術を擁する同メーカーが内装から什器にいたるまで全ての製作を手掛け、古材、新材を織り交ぜた造作を融合させることで、訪れるゲストの想像力を掻き立て、空間そのものが同メーカーのアイデンティティーと技術力を示す場となることを目指した。 A Showroom design for a Beijing, China-based manufacturer specializing in custom-built fixtures. Besides the display area to exhibit samples of building materials, this showroom offers various facilities such as a meeting space for business meetings, coffee counter, custom-built kitchen, a walk-in closet, launderette, and others, for local private owners and designers to visit and develop their design ideas. In order to display a myriad of samples in a limited space, right angle walls are built around the walk-in closet, and another layer of wooden frames further envelopes the first layer of walls. These walls display samples of various building materials and the wooden frame becomes functional by offering flexibility to remove/add doors and large panels to further display samples as required. The pockets of large and small spaces created by these walls allows for fixtures such as kitchen and launderettes to be scattered throughout the space which resembles an open plan house . Guests can encounter various scenes, new building materials and fixtures as they walk through this labyrinth-like circulation. The manufacturer, which possesses high quality woodworking techniques, handles all production from the interior to the fixtures and by integrating a mixture of old and new woodwork, we aimed to enhance the guests’ imagination and make the space itself a place that demonstrates the identity and technical capabilities of the manufacturer.
