東京都新宿区江戸川橋で新たに美容室を開業するプロジェクト。わずか８坪の中に個室の2席が求められた。施主の顧客は壮年の女性が主でそのために、小さな美容室であるが圧迫感が出ないような女性でも入りやすい空間づくりを目指した。 開口の連続によって空間の奥行きが伸びやかに見えるようにしている。アーチ型の開口でアイコニックな可愛さを取り入れ全体的に優しいトーンで空間をまとめている。 アーチ壁と直交する壁は岩柄を模した素材にしている。場所によってはアーチをあえて途切れさせることでアーチが連続していたかのようなあるいはたまたまアーチ壁が塞がれてしまったような想像を掻き立たせる。 外部から見ると直行したアーチの連続、内部ではアーチ壁の擬似的な体感としての広がりによって縦にも横にも連続する開放性を獲得し、慎ましくものびのびとした空間に仕上げている。 This project was to open a new beauty salon in Edogawabashi, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo. The client wanted two private rooms in a space of only 26.6 square meters. The client's customers were mostly middle-aged women, so we aimed to create a space that would be comfortable for women to enter, even though it was a small salon, without feeling oppressive. The succession of openings gives the space a sense of spaciousness and depth. The arched openings add an iconic cuteness, and the overall space is wrapped in gentle tones. The walls perpendicular to the arch wall are made of a material that resembles a rock pattern. In some places, the arch is purposely interrupted, evoking the impression that the arch was continuous, or that the arch wall has just been blocked off by chance. From the outside, it appears as a series of perpendicular arches, while inside, the arched walls create a pseudo-expansion that gives the space a sense of openness both vertically and horizontally, creating a modest yet spacious atmosphere.
