日文版本： このプロジェクトは、香港沙田区に位置する住宅「St Michel（瓏珀山）」の室内デザイン改修プロジェクトです。新型コロナウイルスの影響を受けた住人が、生活やリゾートの新しい形態を求め、自宅にいながらリゾート気分を味わえる空間を作りたいという希望から始まりました。この空間は、忙しい日常生活の中で家族や友人とともにリラックスし、安らぎを感じるための場所を目指しています。 オーナーとのコミュニケーションを通じて、デザインコンセプトは「日本の温泉旅館」をベースに設定しました。天然木材を用いた素材や要素で森林の雰囲気を表現し、日本の組子工芸、特徴的なデザインライン、デザイン性の高い家具などを取り入れることで、クラシックな和風の快適な居住空間を実現しました。これにより、香港にいながら日本にいるような気分を味わうことができます。 このプロジェクトのデザイン理念は、忙しい都市生活の中で住人が心の平穏と温かさを見つけられるような空間を創造することです。そのため、自然光、木材、柔らかな色調を用いて、静かで流れるような空間の雰囲気を醸成しました。 平面レイアウトには大きな変更を加えました。リビングルームに隣接する一室の非構造壁と、主寝室と中間の部屋を隔てる非構造壁を取り払うことで、より広々とし、多様性のある空間体験を実現しました。元のスペースは広さがありながらも、日本旅行中にホテルに入った際の「あの感動」を感じられる設計にはなっていませんでした。 このプロジェクトの最もユニークな要素は、日本で1300年以上の歴史を持つ伝統木工技術「組子細工」を使用したアートインスタレーションです。それぞれの空間にテーマを持たせた組子細工を配置し、大小さまざまなスペースに独自性を与えながらも、一貫性のあるデザインを実現しました。日本のデザインは特に精緻さが求められますが、組子細工はその精緻さを象徴的に表現しています。 プロジェクト完成後、オーナーも私たちも大変満足しており、香港の主要メディアで紹介されただけでなく、2024年のIFデザイン賞を含む国際的な賞を受賞しました。 English Version： This project is an interior design renovation for a residential property in Sha Tin, Hong Kong, named St Michel (瓏珀山). Inspired by the homeowners' new perspective on living and vacationing needs post-COVID, the project aims to create a retreat within the bustling city—a sanctuary where the family and even friends can pause, relax, and enjoy peace amidst their busy lives. Through discussions with the homeowner, the design concept was established around the theme of a Japanese onsen resort villa. By incorporating natural wood elements and materials to evoke a sense of forest serenity, and combining these with Japanese kumiko craftsmanship, distinctive design lines, and stylish furniture, the project creates a classic Japanese-style cozy living space. This allows the homeowner to feel as though they are in Japan while still being in Hong Kong. The design philosophy of the project is to create a space that brings tranquility and warmth, enabling the residents to find inner peace amidst the chaos of urban life. To achieve this, natural light, wood, and soft tones were used to build a serene and seamless spatial atmosphere. Significant changes were made to the layout. Non-load-bearing walls adjacent to the living room and between the master bedroom and a connecting room were removed to create a more open and dynamic spatial experience. While the original layout offered sufficient space, it lacked the "wow factor" often experienced upon entering a Japanese hotel during travels. The most intriguing aspect of the project is the use of kumiko, a traditional Japanese woodworking technique with over 1,300 years of history, as artistic installations throughout the space. Each customized kumiko piece was given a unique theme, ensuring every corner of the home has its own identity while maintaining a consistent relationship throughout. Japanese design demands precision, and kumiko craftsmanship perfectly embodies this meticulous attention to detail. Upon completion, both the homeowners and our team were extremely satisfied with the results. The project has been featured in major media outlets in Hong Kong and has received international recognition, including the 2024 IF Design Award.
