TATSUMI

辰巳は神楽坂にある俱楽部だ。神楽坂は江戸城の西側、牛込や市ヶ谷といった武家屋敷街と隣接し、古くは武士階級の幕末関係者や町人が交じり合い、独特の風情がある花街として栄えてきた。坂のふもとには江戸城防御のために外堀と水路が設けられ、過去から現在に至るまで、多くの人々が橋を渡り神楽坂へと足を運んできた。 高揚感を抱きながら花街へ向かう人々の目に、水面に浮かぶ神楽坂の景色はどのように映ったのだろうか。過去の情景や記憶を現代的に表すことで、神楽坂の過去と現代が交錯する空間を目指した。 区画は非常に細長く、うなぎの寝床のような形であった。一見、ネガティブな要素ではあるが、これを逆手に取って長いコリドーとし、天井一面に鏡面仕上げの波板パネルを張り巡らせることで、店内の様子を朧げに映り込ませている。壁面には、花街の最盛期に流行した大正ロマンの幾何学的なパターンがモチーフの意匠を施し、更にライン照明を連続させることで、天井の波板に映り込む表情と輪郭を強調させた。動線は、コリドーからバーエリア、ラウンジエリア、VIPルームへと続き、いずれも大正ロマンからインスピレーションを得た装飾を現代的なデザインへ昇華させている。 古くから花街として栄えた神楽坂の面影が水面に揺らぎながら静かに語りかけてくるような、どこか懐かしい空間となった。 Tatsumi is a social lounge inspired by the layered memories of Kagurazaka-a neighborhood where Tokyo’s past and present continue to blur. This historical area, once located outside the moat of Edo Castle, developed as a cultural crossroads where samurai, merchants, and geisha districts coexisted, giving rise to a distinctive nightlife scene. The sight of lively streets and visitors reflected in the old waterways forms the emotional foundation of the design, which reinterprets historical memory through a contemporary lens. The space gently weaves together different eras, creating a refined setting where conversation and hospitality take center stage-an atmosphere shaped by interior gestures throughout. The site’s narrow, elongated footprint was embraced rather than concealed. Taking advantage of this, a long corridor was created, unfolding through the space with a mirrored corrugated ceiling that subtly reflects the interior in soft, distorted glimpses. Wall surfaces feature motifs echoing the geometric elegance of early 20th-century Japanese Art Deco, while continuous lines of light ripple across the space, casting glowing reflections that dance across the mirrored ceiling. A clear flow carries guests from the corridor through the bar, lounge, and into a VIP room, where traces of the past are reshaped into a present-day atmosphere of memory and elegance. The space evokes a quiet nostalgia, as if the spirit of old Kagurazaka-once a thriving geisha district-gently shimmers across the water, softly whispering its stories to those who enter.
